This insurance product is separate from a primary health plan and provides lump-sum cash benefits that are paid directly to the insured employee, not doctors or hospitals.
Critical Illness Insurance is supplemental to a primary health plan and helps employees pay for out-of-pocket medical and non-medical costs resulting from a critical illness diagnosis. Hospital Insurance pays benefits when an insured employee is confined to a hospital, whether for planned or unplanned reasons, or for other medical services, depending on the policy. The plan provides payment for each day spent in the hospital, and for some other qualified expenses as well. That money can be used however the employee chooses whether for hospital bills or other costs that come up during recovery.
